The DP World Tour's Irish Open is set to return to The K Club in Straffan, County Kildare, Ireland, from September 4 to 7. The prestigious event, which will be broadcast on Golf Channel/NBC Sports in the US/ET and Sky Sports Golf in the UK/BST, has attracted some of the world's top golfers.

Rory McIlroy, fresh from gaining over half a stroke on the field in his approach game over his past five starts, is the favourite to win the Irish Open, according to BetMGM. The Northern Irishman has the shortest outright odds, and his impressive form suggests he could be a strong contender.

McIlroy will be joined by fellow countryman Shane Lowry, who, along with Jordan Smith, has higher odds to win the tournament. Tyrrell Hatton, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Jhonattan Vegas, and Christiaan Bezuidenhout are among the other notable names competing at The K Club.

Golf Monthly has predicted a number of players to win events in 2025, and their picks for the Irish Open include McIlroy, Lowry, Pádraig Harrington, Francesco Molinari, Danny Willett, Reed, Koepka, Hatton, Luke Donald, Rasmus Hojgaard, Matti Schmid, Marcel Siem, Max Kieffer, Jannik de Bruyn, and Alex Knappe.

Kristoffer Reitan, who has already shown his prowess this season with a win at the Soudal Open and top-10 results at the Hainan Classic, Austrian Open, and BMW International Open, could provide a strong challenge to McIlroy. The Norwegian has also proven that he can perform well in strong winds, with a T3rd at the Nexo Championship.

Marco Penge, who has won the Danish Golf Championship and has a T6th at the British Masters and a T8th at the Omega European Masters this year, could also be a contender. However, it's worth noting that the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup Fall does not begin until next week.

The Irish Open holds a special place in the tournament's history, having been hosted at The K Club twice. The course record at the Palmer Course, set by Joakim Lagergren in 2024, stands at (-9) 63. The Irish Open was last held at The K Club in 2023, with Rasmus Hojgaard taking the title in 2024.

As the DP World Tour's Back 9 sequence continues, golf fans are eagerly awaiting the Irish Open to unfold. With a strong field and favourable conditions, it promises to be an exciting event.
