A Cozy Afternoon Spent in the Company of Helena, the Stunning Lady
On a sunny Sunday afternoon, Landshut's Theatertent played host to the annual Senior Afternoon event, a heartwarming gathering that brings together the city's older citizens and their dedicated care staff.
The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Oberbürgermeister Alexander Putz, who expressed his gratitude towards the attendees and participants. He underscored the importance and value of the work done by caregivers in promoting the well-being of older citizens. On behalf of the city, Putz extended his thanks to the care staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts.
Edeltraud Nuhn, the deputy chairwoman of the Senior Council, followed with her own heartfelt words of appreciation. She specifically thanked the care staff and volunteers for their work during the Senior Afternoon event. However, her speech did not extend the city's gratitude towards the caregivers, unlike Putz's speech.
The highlight of the event was the performance of "Die schoene Helena," an operetta by Jacques Offenbach. The story of love and the mistakes men can make resonated with the audience, serving as a basis for Mayor Alexander Putz's discussion. He suggested that Paris, the Prince of Troy, could have prevented the Trojan War by acknowledging the beauty of all three goddesses instead of choosing one.
The Senior Afternoon at the theater tent is more than just an entertaining event. It is an annual token of appreciation from the city to its older citizens and care staff. Putz thanked the nursing and care homes for their work and the volunteers for making the event possible.
Approximately 350 senior citizens attended the event, making it a memorable occasion for all. If Paris had not made his fateful choice, there would have been no Trojan War, no stories of Homer, and no performance of "Die schoene Helena" today. But we are grateful that we can celebrate love, care, and appreciation in Landshut every year.
