"A grave error looms": Munich-adjacent municipality expresses grave worry over suspended windmill
In the picturesque Hohenkirchner Forest, a long-planned citizen wind turbine project has found itself at the centre of a heated debate. The proposed wind farm, which has been in the works for several years, has sparked protests from local residents and even some politicians.
At the forefront of these protests is Johannes Huber, a member of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, who has been vocal in his opposition to the planned wind turbines. Recently, he led a demonstration before the latest council meeting in Hohenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn, expressing the uncertainty of the population regarding the planned five wind turbines.
The demonstration, however, has not slowed down another wind energy project in the nearby Hofoldinger Forest. This citizen wind farm, already boasting three wind turbines, seems unaffected by the potential changes. Yet, the deputy district administrator expresses frustration that the Hohenkirchner Forest project remains at a standstill while the Hofoldinger Forest project continues to move forward.
Adding to the complications is a lawsuit by the Association for Landscape Conservation, Species Protection, and Biodiversity (VLAB), which has delayed the Hohenkirchner Forest project. In response, the district administrator, Bußjäger, has written a letter to Federal Minister of Economics Katherina Reiche, urging the need for reliable framework conditions and stable investment incentives for renewable energies in Hohenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn.
Bußjäger also emphasizes the importance of the reference yield model for wind energy in wind-weak regions, urging its continuation. He believes that this model is crucial for the success of the citizen wind farm model, which relies heavily on local cooperation and support. According to Martin Sterflinger, this cooperation with local residents is indeed vital for the success of such projects.
As the debate continues, the future of the Hohenkirchner Forest wind turbine project remains uncertain. With opposing views and legal hurdles, it remains to be seen whether the project will finally take off or if it will face continued delays.
