A local individual in Omsk region confiscated a rifle from his mother-in-law and was subsequently taken into custody by authorities.

In a recent development, a stolen hunting rifle has been recovered by Russian police following an investigation into a series of illegal actions.

The investigation began when a 37-year-old resident of Tyukalinsk visited Bolsherechye and illegally purchased a rifle, an IZH-K model, caliber 1962, from the residence of its original owner. The rifle belonged to the late head of the family, who was an avid hunter.

Upon returning to his home region, the 37-year-old sold the stolen rifle to an acquaintance for 3,000 rubles. The sale of the weapon, along with the subsequent transfer of the rifle, were illegal actions that formed part of the stolen rifle's journey from the original owner's house in Bolsherechye to the buyer's residence.

The widow of the late head of the family was initially preparing to surrender the rifle to the police. However, the theft and subsequent illegal sale of the rifle prevented this from happening. The expert's conclusion adds evidence to the theft and illegal sale of the rifle, as the weapon was confirmed to be a functional smoothbore hunting rifle.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 226 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft of weapons). Police officers have now seized the stolen IZH-K model rifle at the buyer's residence, and the buyer's home is now under investigation in relation to the criminal case.

The same criminal case also includes Part 7 of Article 222 (illegal sale of civilian firearms). The identity of the buyer of the stolen rifle remains undisclosed in the available information.

This recovery and the ongoing investigation serve as a reminder of the importance of upholding the law and preventing the illegal trade of weapons. The police continue to work diligently to apprehend those involved in this case and bring them to justice.
