A minor drives family vehicle from Wuppertal to Essen, resulting in a collision
In Essen's city centre on the evening of July 31st, a peculiar incident unfolded that raised eyebrows and sparked investigations. At around 7:20 PM, a Smart car was observed disregarding traffic rules, using the bus lane and running a red light at the intersection of Viehofer Platz / Schützenbahn.
A vigilant motorist, who witnessed this breach of traffic regulations, promptly reported the incident to the police and pursued the Smart car. To their surprise, the motorist discovered that the driver of the Smart car was a 13-year-old boy.
The young driver, apparently unfazed by the situation, continued his reckless driving, attempting to flee. However, his attempts were thwarted when the pursuer managed to block the Smart car. The boy's erratic driving led to a collision with a VW driver's car and a parked vehicle.
Upon arrival at the scene, the police apprehended the 13-year-old driver and the Smart car was located. The boy was found to be driving his mother's car. Due to his age, he is not criminally responsible, but his mother is being investigated for possibly allowing the 13-year-old to drive the Smart.
The 24-year-old driver of the VW car sustained minor injuries in the incident. After completing police procedures, the 13-year-old boy was handed over to his guardian. The search results do not provide the name of the mother of the 13-year-old boy who illegally drove his mother's car in Essen on July 31, 2021.
The Smart car, after causing a stir in Essen's city centre, was eventually found to have turned into a dead-end street in Goldschmidtstraße. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic rules and the responsibilities that come with driving a vehicle.
