A renowned role-playing game is set to receive an unauthorized expansion pack, introducing a fresh landscape and reviving excised material.

In the world of PC gaming, anticipation is building for an exciting expansion to the classic CRPG, Planescape: Torment. The mod, Blizzard in Baator, is being developed by a Polish team and is expected to be released later this year.

The expansion promises to take players on a new journey, descending through Planescape's Nine Hells and into the Frozen Wastes of Cania, a new region of Sigil. The mod developers, including Szef, FallDamage312, and Wrathu, are working tirelessly to bring this "first ever" unofficial Planescape DLC to life.

While the project is not expected to be completed until 2031, the team is hopeful that it will be much sooner. The first act of the expansion is slated to release later this year and will take around a dozen hours to complete.

Blizzard in Baator restores voice lines, lost items, and graphical elements cut from the original Planescape, and adds two new recruitable characters, new planar creatures, original music, and new cinematics. The mod's story revolves around the main characters and relies primarily on AD&D 2 edition source material.

For those looking for the best PC gaming handhelds to enjoy Planescape: Torment and the upcoming expansion, there are several options to consider. The Lenovo Legion Go S SteamOS ed. is the best overall choice, offering a great gaming experience with its powerful hardware and SteamOS operating system. For those seeking a budget-friendly option, the Steam Deck is a fantastic choice. For those who prefer Windows, the MSI Claw 8 AI is a top pick. For a compact option, the Ayaneo Flip DS is a great choice.

Rick Lane, a games journalist who has been fascinated by PC gaming since he was seven years old, has been following the development of Blizzard in Baator closely. Rick, who has been games editor of Custom PC magazine and associated website bit-tech.net between 2013 and 2022, has a particular passion for first-person shooters and immersive sims.

It's worth noting that the expansion, based on the Polish version of Planescape, may result in some differences in naming conventions compared to the natively English version. However, the mod will be available in both English and Polish languages, ensuring that as many fans as possible can enjoy this exciting new addition to the Planescape: Torment universe.

Planescape: Torment is often regarded as the zenith of the CRPG's golden age, and with the upcoming release of Blizzard in Baator, fans of the classic game have even more to look forward to. So, get ready to dive back into the Planescape: Torment world and experience the new adventures that await in Blizzard in Baator.
