Aachen Police Department Announces the Arrival of Fresh Personnel
231 New Trainee Commissioners Join Aachen Police
In a grand ceremony on September 1, 2025, the Aachen City Region welcomed 231 new trainee commissioners to the North Rhine-Westphalia Police. Among these recruits, this year's cohort is special as the trainees chose a focus between "Investigations" or "Operations" during the application process.
The new trainee commissioners were appointed after a successful recruitment process and will begin their training at the HSPV (Police and Administration University of Applied Sciences) in Aachen. Simultaneously, five of them will also start their bachelor's studies at the Aachen Police.
Andreas Bollenbach, the head of the Aachen Police, extended a warm welcome to all new colleagues in the 110 team of the Aachen Police. He emphasised the importance of maintaining a clear stance in their daily work while remaining human, as they prepare for their future roles.
The trainee commissioners will be specifically prepared for their roles during their studies, including theoretical and practical preparation for police tasks and unique challenges of the profession. Some of them will complete their practical training in the patrol service or a department at the police stations in Düren, Heinsberg, or the Rhein-Erft district.
In the coming years, the trainee commissioners will encounter people in exceptional situations. Two of the government inspector trainees have a focus on IT, which will undoubtedly be beneficial in their future roles.
Last week, 177 trainee commissioners of the 2022 recruitment year were officially appointed as police commissioners. Meanwhile, 58 vocational school students started their path to the Fachabitur at the vocational colleges in Herzogenrath and Düren last week.
