Abbey Road Studios Collaborates with Jon Hopkins: "Their Achievements are Simply Spectacular"
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Polestar has launched Abbey Road Studios Mode, an in-car sound mode developed in partnership with legendary recording studio Abbey Road and audio specialists Bowers & Wilkins. This innovative feature is available exclusively with the Bowers & Wilkins audio system in the new Polestar 3 electric vehicle.
To elevate the listening experience, Abbey Road Studios Mode offers four unique presets: Intimate, Expansive, Open, and Energised. For the Intimate and Expansive presets, Grammy-nominated composer Jon Hopkins was invited to create new music. Hopkins, known for merging experimentation with emotional nuance in his compositions, found the experience of working in one of the most famous rooms in music—Abbey Road Studio Two—to be surreal and different.
For the Intimate preset, Hopkins crafted a subtle, contemplative piece that evokes the quiet and private feeling of being in one of the studio's control rooms. On the other hand, for the Expansive preset, his approach was more improvisatory, aiming to capture the sound of Studio Two, a creative space at the centre of Britain's music scene since 1931.
In addition to these presets, a producer mode provides users with granular control over their audio experience. Polestar also invited artists such as Sam Dust, Logan Sky, and Roberta Khan to create new music for the current over-the-air music update celebrating the release of Abbey Road Studios Mode.
To showcase the unique sonic characteristics of Abbey Road Studios Mode in Polestar 3, rising jazz star Corto.alto spent a day making music in Abbey Road Studio Two. Corto.alto, known for his unique sound and innovative approach to music, found the experience of being in the Polestar 3 and recording at Abbey Road Studio Two to be "so cool." He even reimagined two of his most impactful tracks to showcase the depth of the new in-car listening experience in Polestar 3.
Abbey Road Studios Mode aims to replicate the sounds of the famous studio through these four unique presets, aiming to elevate the listening experience for Polestar 3 drivers. With its innovative features and partnerships, Polestar continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in the electric vehicle industry.
