In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 10-year-old girl who was severely injured in a traffic accident on Wednesday, June 4, in Hürth, Germany, has passed away on Friday afternoon, June 6, in a clinic.
The incident occurred around 12:15 PM, with the location not specified but happening in Hürth. The school group involved in the accident was traveling from Theresiastraße towards Theresienhöhe.
According to the press release, a joint announcement by the Public Prosecutor's Office Cologne and Rhein-Erft Police Department, the accident happened when a BMW driver approaching from the left from Sudetenstraße hit the pedestrians. Current investigations suggest that the 20-year-old BMW driver may have driven over a red light.
The second group of the school group waited for the next green phase at the pedestrian crossing on Frechener Straße, while the first group entered the road. No further details about the accident or the investigation were provided in the press release.
