Achievement in Replication: Details Unveiled
In a heartwarming display of international solidarity, the cities of Coevorden (Netherlands), Chuhuiv (Ukraine), and Nordhorn have been official partner cities since this summer. This partnership, established around two years ago, came to life with a ten-day recreational stay for 18 teenagers and two female chaperones from Chuhuiv, Ukraine.
The leisure time event, organised by volunteers from the Nordhorn city partnership committee, was aimed at fostering cultural exchange and understanding between the partner cities. Amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, this visit provided a much-needed respite for the teenagers, allowing them to relax away from the war in their home country.
The community of Coevorden planned three days of the stay, while the guests were accommodated at the MoveInn in the Grafschafter Sport- and Leisure Park in Nordhorn. Activities included mini-golf, bowling, dance courses, bouldering, swimming in Nordhorn Delfino and Aqua Mundo in the Netherlands, visits to city centers, and a joint barbecue by the campfire.
The teenagers also had the opportunity to visit the Nordhorn Zoo and the Wildlands Zoo in Emmen. These outings, along with the visits to city centers, offered a glimpse into the daily life and culture of their host cities.
The financing of the leisure time was made possible by donations collected during a solidarity concert for Chuhuiv, which brought in over 100,000 euros. Part of these donations were used to fund the activities, providing the teenagers with a much-needed break.
This was the second such occasion, with the initiative for the event coming from the mayor of Chuhuiv, Galyna Minayeva. The first trip, too, was met with great success, strengthening the bonds between the partner cities.
Chuhuiv, located in the contested region of Kharkiv near the Russian border, is frequently targeted by attacks, including drone strikes. Despite these challenges, the spirit of friendship and understanding between the partner cities remains unwavering.
The name of the chairman of the Nordhorn city partnership committee, who was significantly involved in organising the event, is not mentioned in the provided search results. However, the commitment and dedication of volunteers like Achim Haming, Sigrid Maschmeier, and Elena Baal, who organised the visit program, are evident in the success of the event.
This exchange serves as a testament to the power of community spirit and international cooperation. It offers hope that in times of conflict, there are those who strive to bring people together, fostering understanding and friendship across borders.
