In a heartfelt interview with U.S. magazine "People," actor Eric Dane, best known for his role as Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan in the popular U.S. hospital drama "Grey's Anatomy," has revealed that he has been diagnosed with ALS.
At 52 years old, Dane is a family man, married to actress Rebecca Gayheart. Together, they have two children: Billie Beatrice, who is 15, and Georgia Geraldine, who is 13.
ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the central and peripheral nervous system. Currently, there is no cure for ALS.
