Actor Eric Dane, known for his role in "Grey's Anatomy," is fatally ailing.
Eric Dane, the popular actor known for his roles in "Grey's Anatomy" and the current HBO series "Euphoria," has revealed that he has been diagnosed with ALS. The disease, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, affects the nervous system, impacting both the central and peripheral nervous system.
Dane, 52, announced his diagnosis in an interview with U.S. magazine "People." He has been living with ALS for some time now, marking a new chapter in his life. The actor, who played Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan on "Grey's Anatomy" for six years, left the series in 2012.
Dane is married to Rebecca Gayheart, and the couple has two children, Billie Beatrice, who is 15 years old, and Georgia Geraldine, who is 13. In "Euphoria," Dane plays a prominent role alongside Zendaya in the HBO drama about high school students dealing with drugs, sex, violence, and uncertain futures. Currently, he can be seen as the family patriarch in the series.
Upon the announcement of his diagnosis, Dane expressed his gratitude for the support of his family during this challenging time. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease, meaning it will continue to affect his life in the coming years. Despite the diagnosis, Dane remains hopeful and determined to face this new chapter with courage and resilience.
ALS is a disease that affects approximately 5,000 adults in the UK and 30,000 Americans each year. It is a devastating condition that can lead to paralysis and ultimately, death. As Dane navigates this new reality, we wish him strength and hope for a promising future.
