The Hermi Run 2025 is set to take place on April 26, starting at 11 a.m. on Kaiser-Wilhelm-Platz. This annual event, organised by the Sports Association Detmold e.V. and the city portal, aims to promote equality and the inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
The event is named after Hermi, a beloved figure who will personally participate in the run. Last year's Hermi Run attracted over 500 participants, and this year's edition promises to be just as popular.
In addition to the main run, a colourful fringe program will be held on Kaiser-Wilhelm-Platz. The fringe program is part of the Hermi Run 2025 and is organised by the Lippe Action Alliance and various sports clubs. The event is open to the whole family and runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The fringe program includes a variety of activities such as a goal wall shooting contest, face painting, a lucky wheel, a karate demonstration, and information from sports clubs about their offers for people with and without disabilities.
One of the highlights of the fringe program is the Special Olympics Torch carrying event. The torch will be carried across Kaiser-Wilhelm-Platz, adding a touch of excitement to the day.
Participation in the Hermi Run 2025 is possible without prior registration. Participants can choose between a 400-meter and an 800-meter distance, or run both.
The Hermi Run 2025 is held in conjunction with the project "Restart Inclusion? Lippe Inclusive!", which is organized by the Verein für Menschen mit und ohne Behinderungen in Lippe e.V. The event is financially supported by the LWL Social Foundation and Aktion Mensch.
