The 2017-18 FIA Formula E season is nearing its championship weekend, and the spotlight is on the New York City ePrix. Hosted at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, the event will take place on July 14 and 15, featuring a longer track with sharp turns.

Panasonic Jaguar Racing, one of the teams competing in the series, has had an impressive season so far. Driver Mitch Evans placed within the top 15 drivers for the season last year, and the team has made the expected step forward in the current season, according to team director James Barclay.

The season-opening race at Hong Kong saw Nelson Piquet Jr. finishing 4th on Day 1, while Mitch Evans placed 3rd on Day 2. The team had a strong showing in the ePrix in Zurich, but did not finish in the points in Paris. Despite not winning a race this season, Panasonic Jaguar currently ranks fifth in the FIA Formula E standings, having taken points in every race except in Paris where Piquet didn't finish and Evans placed 15th.

Barclay expressed satisfaction with the team's progress, acknowledging the high level of competition in the series. He stated that the team's goal for this season is to earn points in every race. Panasonic Jaguar has been successful in achieving this goal, demonstrating their consistent performance throughout the season.

The New York City ePrix will be the current driver of Panasonic Jaguar Racing's Formula E team, Nick Cassidy's, first appearance for the team in Red Hook. Cassidy joined the team in the 2024 season, succeeding Sam Bird.

Last year, Panasonic Jaguar finished last in the standings, but the team is not in contention for this season's championship. However, Barclay stated that they are all there to win, and the team is undoubtedly one to watch in the upcoming NYC ePrix.

The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal shone in its 2017 debut and will once again host the championship weekend for the 2017-18 FIA Formula E season. Fans can expect an exciting and thrilling race weekend, with Panasonic Jaguar Racing aiming to continue their strong performance and secure valuable points in the series.
