In the first quarter of 2025, Nigeria has witnessed significant progress under President Bola Tinubu's administration. Here's a roundup of some of the key achievements and ongoing projects:

Healthcare

New federal medical centres have been commissioned to ensure affordable access to quality healthcare for all Nigerians.

Education

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has become a lifeline for many Nigerian families, processing over 9,000 applications daily. This fund has disbursed over N104 billion to no fewer than 600,000 students in federal tertiary institutions.

Economy

Nigeria's GDP grew by 3.13 per cent in the first quarter of 2025, with the services sector surging by over 5 per cent. The government is targeting 7 per cent annual growth by 2027 and a quadrupling of the economy by 2030.

A proposed tax reform bill aims to ease burdens on low and middle-income earners by eliminating regressive levies, simplifying tax collection, and focusing more on high-income sectors and large corporations.

Energy

Stabilised electricity supply has been achieved across the board, a significant step towards energy sufficiency. Agricultural reforms and the introduction of compressed natural gas (CNG) as an affordable transport fuel are expected to reduce food and transportation costs.

Infrastructure

The Tinubu administration is driving landmark infrastructure projects, including the 700km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, projected at $11 billion. Other major road projects include the 1,000km Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, dualisation of the Kano-Maiduguri Road, rehabilitation of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, completion of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, and the reconstruction of over 330 roads and bridges across the country. Work on the first 47.47km segment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is underway, backed by $747 million in funding.

Social Services

The national health insurance scheme has been expanded to include children. N12.82 billion was disbursed to 169,114 students in stipends, and N20.07 billion was disbursed to 192,906 students in tuition payments.

Praise for the Administration

Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), commended President Tinubu for his economic policies. However, specific government proposals for economic stabilisation were not found in the search results. The Tinubu Media Force (TMF), a support group for President Tinubu, has been active in promoting these achievements.

As the Tinubu administration continues to drive these initiatives, it remains to be seen how they will shape the future of Nigeria.
