Affordable Wireless E-Reader Introduced by Kobo for $139
Kobo Introduces New Wireless e-Reader
Kobo, a leading e-reader manufacturer, has announced the release of a new wireless version of their popular e-reader. The Kobo Wireless e-Reader is now available for pre-order at a price of $139 and is set to be shipped to customers in October.
The new e-Reader boasts faster page turns, with a 2.5% improvement over the original Kobo. It features a 16-greyscale, 6" eInk screen for a paper-like reading experience, even in bright sunlight. The device will be available in three new colours: Onyx, Porcelain with Metallic Silver back, and Porcelain with a Pearlized Lilac back.
The Kobo Wireless e-Reader is compatible with apps for Blackberry, Apple, Android, and desktop software for PC. It also supports ePub and DRM books via Adobe Digital Editions, and Kobo has new partnerships with Samsung for the Galaxy Tab and the Blackberry Playbook.
With the Kobo Wireless e-Reader, users can shop for ebooks on-the-go with a WIFI connection and access to Kobo's entire catalog of around 2 million titles. The device offers a battery life of up to 10,000 page turns on a single charge, with the WIFI turned off.
In addition to the new e-Reader, Kobo has also announced a price reduction for the original Kobo e-reader. The device is expected to be priced as low as $99 this December. As a pre-order incentive, Kobo is giving away free Random House ebooks, including Linwood Barclay's FEAR THE WORST and Ruth Rakoff's WHEN MY WORLD WAS VERY SMALL.
The Kobo Wireless e-Reader will be available for purchase at various retailers, including online and in stores such as Kobobooks.com, *Shop E-Readers*, Borders US, Indigo Books & Music, and Walmart in Canada. Online pre-orders for the Kobo Wireless e-Reader begin today.
Kobo has also implemented Library support, enabling users to download books from their local library. The new e-Reader comes with 100 free ebooks and a new built-in dictionary. The Kobo Wireless e-Reader will continue to be priced at $139.99 USD.
