In a series of unfortunate events, Japan Airlines (JAL) has been grappling with a pattern of alcohol-related issues within its flight crew, causing significant disruptions to its services.

The latest incident occurred on a flight from Hawaii to Japan, where a pilot, who had called in sick, admitted to consuming alcohol the previous day at a hotel. This unfortunate incident led to the flight's delay and further affected two subsequent flights, causing a ripple effect of disruption.

Last year, in April, a JAL captain in the US was warned by police for disorderly conduct in his hotel, another incident that raised concerns about alcohol consumption among the airline's crew.

In December, two pilots scheduled to fly from Australia to Japan failed alcohol tests before departure, leading to delays, as reported. This incident was preceded by another in 2018, where a JAL co-pilot was arrested before a flight from London to Tokyo for reported excessive alcohol consumption the night before the flight.

These incidents have not gone unnoticed, and authorities have taken steps to address these issues. Officials have visited the JAL headquarters, and the airline has been instructed to improve its business practices.

In response to these incidents, JAL has promised to strictly enforce existing measures to prevent future incidents of drunkenness among its flight crew. One of the measures includes creating a list of employees suspected of having a history of excessive alcohol consumption to monitor their behaviour.

The airline has also apologised and assured that it would strictly implement these measures. Delays caused by these incidents have impacted multiple flights, leading to inconvenience for passengers.

However, it's worth noting that there is no information available about someone being arrested on a Japan Airlines flight in 2018 from London to Tokyo after consuming large amounts of alcohol.

JAL, as a reputable airline, will undoubtedly work diligently to address these issues and ensure the safety and comfort of its passengers. The incidents highlight a potential issue with alcohol consumption among JAL flight crew members, and it is hoped that the measures put in place will lead to a more responsible and reliable workforce.
