Airline Sky Express Establishes Route between Hamburg and Athens
Hamburg Airport's summer 2025 flight schedule offers passengers around 120 direct destinations in approximately 40 countries. Among the popular destinations, Mallorca and Antalya continue to be favourites, with around 70 weekly flights to the Balearic Island and about 40 to the Turkish Riviera.
The schedule also sees an increase in flights to Greece, Albania, and Armenia. Sky Express, one of the fastest-growing airlines in Greece, will start a non-stop service from Hamburg to Athens on October 24, 2025. This new airline will serve this route three times a week: on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Gesa Zaremba, Head of Airline & Traffic Development at Hamburg Airport, announced the addition of Sky Express to their network. Sky Express, a member of the International Air Transport Association founded in 2005, will use an Airbus A320 neo for the Hamburg to Athens route. However, the aircraft type Sky Express will use for flights from October 24, 2025, beyond the Athens route is not yet specified.
Hamburg Airport serves as an economic engine for the metropolitan region and in 2024, it recorded its highest passenger numbers. The airport won the "Best Airport Award 2025", further cementing its position as a preferred travel hub.
It is worth noting that the summer 2025 flight schedule does not specify the exact number of flights to Mallorca and Antalya, or any other destinations apart from the Hamburg to Athens route. Additionally, the specific days or times of the flights in the summer 2025 schedule are not provided.
Sky Express operates the largest domestic network in Greece with 33 destinations from Athens. The flight duration for the Hamburg to Athens route will be approximately three hours.
