On Thursday, September 12, the city of Solingen will join the nationwide Civil Defense Drill. This exercise aims to test the effectiveness of the emergency response system in place.

For those who haven't downloaded the NINA app yet, important information and the option to download the app can be found on the website of the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) at Warn-App NINA - BBK (bund.de). The reception capability of cell broadcast can also be checked in advance at Cell Broadcast - BBK (bund.de).

During the drill, the federal government will trigger the nationwide warning centrally via the Modular Warning System (MoWaS) for the entire country. In Solingen, thirteen additional sirens are scheduled to be installed in October to improve coverage throughout the city area. However, the information about who is installing these sirens was not found in the provided search results.

The drill in Solingen will commence at 11:00 AM. Sirens in the city will sound with a five-minute pattern: one minute of all-clear, one minute of warning, and one minute of all-clear. Additionally, mobile sirens at Schützenplatz and Hamburger Straße in the Ohligs area will be activated during the drill.

Residents who cannot perceive the siren signals are requested to send an email to the fire department of Solingen at "[email protected]" with the exact location. An all-clear will be announced at 11:45 AM following the drill.

During the test alarm, a warning message will be sent to all smartphones via the NINA warning app and cell broadcast. Comprehensive information for the public will be provided during the drill, which will be published on the websites of the warning authorities and in social media.

The broadcast of warning messages during the drill will be handled by Radio RSG for the fire department of Solingen. Moreover, information about the nationwide drill and the sirens will be displayed on digital pillars in the Solingen area.

The warning level during the drill is 1. It's important to note that this is a test and there is no need for panic. The drill provides an opportunity to ensure that everyone is prepared for any potential emergencies.
