Alert: School Term Commences with Warning Campaign "Beware! School is in session!"
In the vibrant city of Essen, approximately 6,000 children are embarking on a new journey as they start school this year. To ensure their safety on the roads, the city administration, politics, and the police have joined forces with the Traffic Safety Association Essen to launch the annual 'Beware! School has Started!' campaign.
The campaign, now in its traditional form, will be visible throughout Essen. Stickers with the campaign slogans, "Beware! School has started!" and "Brake! School has started!", will adorn police vehicles, Ruhrbahn buses, driving schools, and vehicles of the Office for Streets and Traffic. Additionally, billboards and electricity boxes will display these reminders, serving as a constant reminder to drivers to exercise caution.
Mayor Thomas Kufen, during a presentation on 25.08.2025, unveiled this year's campaign motifs. He expressed his gratitude towards the Traffic Safety Association Essen for their long-term commitment to road safety. Anja Löhrmann, Chairperson of the Traffic Safety Association Essen, Gerd Mittich of Westenergie AG, and Police President Andreas Stüve were also present at the presentation.
The city of Essen is supporting this initiative, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of consideration for school starters in road traffic at the start of the new school year. The campaign will run from 27.08.2025 to 12.09.2025.
