Fire Department in Wetter Successfully Extinguishes Apartment Fire

In an incident that took place on April 30, 2025, at 21:48 hours, the fire department in Alt-Wetter was alerted to a triggered smoke alarm in Wolfgang-Reuter-Straße. The smoke alarm was located in a top-floor apartment in Oststraße.

Upon arrival, the fire department found a strong smell of smoke and a tenant asleep inside the apartment. The incident commander stated that without the smoke alarms, the situation could have turned out differently for the person due to the already strong smoke.

The fire department in Wetter, along with the fire department in Wengern, quickly sprang into action. They used a battery-operated fan to ventilate the apartment after extinguishing the fire, which took approximately 70 minutes and required 25 deployed personnel. An emergency doctor was called in during the operation.

Unfortunately, the tenant was lightly injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The cause of the fire in the apartment on Oststraße in Alt-Wetter on April 30, 2025, has not been determined, and the responsible party has not been identified based on available information; investigations are ongoing.

The fire department in Wetter can be contacted for further inquiries. The contact details for the Feuerwehr Wetter (Ruhr) Press Office are: Deputy Chief Fire Officer Patric Poblotzki, phone number 0173-5132151, email [email protected], and website www.feuerwehrwetter.de.

The fire department once again appeals to vehicle owners to consider the use of larger vehicles by rescue services and respect designated parking restrictions. A vehicle parked improperly in Oststraße hindered the operations of the fire department during this incident.
