Alexandrova topples Noskova's reign

In the world of tennis, the weekend saw a series of thrilling matches and exciting upsets as players from around the globe battled it out on various courts.

In Cleveland, Ohio, the women's doubles final of the Tennis in the Land tournament took an exciting turn as the Chinese duo of Xu Yifan and Yang Zhaoxuan faced off against Chan Hao-ching and Jiang Xinyu from Taiwan and China. Despite a valiant effort, Xu and Yang ultimately lost in a close match, with the scores reading 4-6, 7-6 (7/2), 10-3 in favour of Chan and Jiang.

Meanwhile, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Sebastian Korda, seeded 11th, continued his impressive form by reaching the semi-finals of a tournament after defeating Miomir Kecmanovic with scores of 6-1, 6-4. Korda, who has been building up to the US Open after a spell out of action due to a stress fracture in his right shin, will next face Hungary's Marton Fucsovics in the semi-finals.

Elsewhere, France's Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard reached the semi-finals of a tournament after a hard-fought victory over Serbia's Hamad Medjedovic. The match saw Perricard saving four set points in the first-set tiebreaker, where he trailed 1-5, to eventually take the set. He went on to win the match with scores of 7-6 (10/8), 6-2.

Unfortunately, the match between Van de Zandschulp and Bu was suspended due to rain with Van de Zandschulp leading 6-3, 4-3.

In the Monterrey tennis tournament, ninth seed Mpetshi Perricard's opponent in the semi-final was Marie Bouzková. However, Bouzková withdrew from the semi-final due to injury after a tough first set against Alexandrova.

Interestingly, the second seeds in one of the tournaments converted only two of seven break points during their match. Meanwhile, the Chinese duo in the women's doubles final committed a total of eight double faults in their match.

These results underscore the unpredictable nature of tennis, where even the most promising starts can be derailed by a single misstep or a bout of bad weather. As the tennis season continues, fans can look forward to more exciting matches and surprises.
