All-rounder of England hits first List A century in six years, propelling team to County One-Day Cup final, scoring 142 and 2-55.

After a rain-affected day at Headingley, Hampshire secured their place in the final of the One Day Cup 2025 with a nail-biting 18-run victory over Yorkshire.

The hosts, Yorkshire, started the day on the back foot, losing two wickets upon resumption. Imam-ul-Haq, who had earlier scored a brilliant 105 runs for Yorkshire, was run out by Eddie Jack, ending a promising partnership.

Despite the setback, Yorkshire's George Hill and Harry Duke managed to put together a 36-run partnership in 21 balls, momentarily giving hope to the home team. However, Liam Dawson, who was instrumental in Hampshire's victory, broke the partnership, dismissing George Hill.

Hampshire's bowling attack, led by Matt Milnes, who took three wickets for 73 runs, kept Yorkshire's chase in check. Milnes was supported by Scott Currie, who finished the match with 2 wickets for 55 runs, including the crucial dismissal of Finlay Bean, who was dismissed by Scott Currie for 34 runs.

Scott Currie also starred with the bat, scoring a maiden List A fifty off just 35 balls. His aggressive innings helped Hampshire post a challenging total of 271 runs in 45 overs. Ben Mayes contributed with a steady 37 runs in 51 balls.

Liam Dawson, who scored a career-best 142 runs in a One Day Cup match against Yorkshire in 2025, once again shone for Hampshire. His unbeaten 61 runs helped Hampshire set a competitive total.

Yorkshire's chase was hampered by a series of dropped catches, most notably Ben Cliff's drop of Liam Dawson. Despite Imam-ul-Haq's valiant effort, Yorkshire fell 18 runs short of Hampshire's total, ensuring that it is Hampshire who will face Worcestershire in the final at Trent Bridge on September 20.

This victory marks a remarkable turnaround for Liam Dawson, who had not scored a hundred in List A cricket in six years. His form, along with the consistent performances of Scott Currie and Matt Milnes, bodes well for Hampshire as they prepare for the final.
