Amplified DiGiCo Quantum 338s enhance China's 'wooden toy town' Fairy-Tale Theatre
The Fairy-Tale Theatre in Yunhe, China, has recently undergone an audio system upgrade, installing two DiGiCo Quantum 338 mixing consoles. The theatre, which is part of the Fairy-Tale Castle complex in Zhejiang, boasts a seating capacity of 696 and requires an audio system capable of adapting to various production types.
The new system, tested during the premiere of Hymn of the Earth performed by the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theatre Traditional Music Troupe, demonstrated the ability to manage complex mixes with precision and clarity. Zhao Haozhi, deputy manager of the product department at RAC, DiGiCo's sales partner in China, stated that the team wanted a console capable of handling orchestral productions to spoken word with minimal compromise.
One Quantum 338 console has been configured as the main front-of-house system, while the second is mirrored for redundancy, adding a layer of operational safety in high-pressure live environments. The real-time console mirroring feature ensures seamless switching during performances, ensuring the show goes on even in the event of technical issues.
During performances, the screens on the Quantum 338 have a dark mode to minimise visual distractions. Meanwhile, the surface of the Quantum 338 includes ultra-bright screens for rehearsals, providing a clear and detailed view of the mix during the preparation stages.
Zhao Haozhi also mentioned that the Quantum 338 consoles were essential in handling the complex mixes of Hymn of the Earth with precision and clarity. The Quantum 338 console offers 128 input channels, 64 aux or subgroup busses, and a 24×24 full processing matrix, providing the theatre with a powerful and versatile audio solution.
The Fairy-Tale Theatre's upgrade is part of its ongoing efforts to expand its programme of performances, promising audiences an even more immersive and high-quality audio experience. As the theatre continues to grow, so too does its need for cutting-edge technology, and with the DiGiCo Quantum 338 consoles, it is well-equipped to meet this demand.
