Amplifier manufacturer Powersoft guarantees steady, dependable amplification at Lamar University.
The Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center, owned and operated by Lamar University, has undergone a significant upgrade. The old audio system has been replaced with a new high-end setup, powered by Powersoft's cloud-based Unica amplifier platform.
The new sound system, designed to meet the multifunctional needs of the arena and provide high intelligibility, is a collaborative effort between Anthony James Partners, Bluum, and Powersoft. The speakers in the new system are all Fulcrum, consisting of 20 FH15, 24 CX826, and four Sub218L subwoofers. These speakers are installed in various locations, including under the basketball court bleachers, with the amplifiers and networking equipment housed in a Middle Atlantic WRK rack.
The speakers utilize the DSP built into the Powersoft amplifiers, with additional processing and control provided by the Q-SYS Core. The specified system for the Neches Arena includes four Unica 8K8, two Quattrocanali 8804 DSP+D, and one Ottocanali 8K4 amplifier platforms, along with a Midas M32 console, four Shure ULXD wireless microphones, a Q-SYS Core 110f processor, and NETGEAR M4250 switches.
The design of the new sound system was constrained by the space available, with the team having to work around the existing infrastructure. To ensure the amplifiers were the correct match for the system, Powersoft's U.S. team provided support, offering suggestions to create the best power possible.
Lamar University is very happy with the overall result delivered by the collaborative team. The new audio system provides high-quality audio to every seat in the arena, ensuring that every attendee enjoys an immersive audio experience. The new system has now been installed and is operational, ready to enhance the events at the Neches Arena.
