Andrew Moreno: Finding Peace in the Poker Whirlwind

Andrew Moreno, a seasoned poker player and member of the PokerOrg Player Advisory Board, has had a remarkable summer in the world of poker. His latest victory came at the RunGood Poker Series Million Dollar Main Event at Thunder Valley Casino in Sacramento, where he took home $200,080.

Moreno, who approaches his play from a "feel" manner, decided each day based on his feelings. This approach served him well, as he focused on staying present and not forcing situations as the tournament approached its final table.

The WSOP series, Moreno believes, is similar to the experience of going to Burning Man – a mix of love and dislike. He finds himself exposed to the whirlwinds surrounding players like Martin Kabrhel and Will Kassouf, but has become accustomed to dealing with such situations in poker.

Balancing mental and emotional health with daily play is a challenge for Moreno. He finds it challenging to maintain balance and peace without music or earplugs during poker play. However, he takes solace in his three-year-old son's advice, "You can do hard things."

During the final day of the tournament, Moreno called home for support. He told himself repeatedly, "I don't need to do anything. I don't need to make anything happen. Just continue to let the game come to you and take what you see."

Moreno's summer at the WSOP was overall profitable, culminating in his victory at the RunGood Poker Series. He currently finds himself traveling to the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Florida, where he recently played in the 2025 Everglades Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Despite the hectic schedule, Moreno always makes time for his family. He spends time with them during breakfast or dinner breaks on days he plays, ensuring that his personal life remains a priority amidst the poker whirlwind.

Moreno's journey in poker is a testament to his ability to find peace in unfavorable situations, a trait that sets him apart in the competitive world of poker.
