Today, her story comes to life on the big screen with the premiere of the biopic "Maria" at the Venice Film Festival. Directed by Pablo Larraín, the film promises to tell the tumultuous, beautiful, and tragic story of Callas' life, from her meteoric rise to fame to her final days living in isolation in Paris.

Working with Angelina Jolie on the film was a "true gift" for the director, who spoke highly of the actress's dedication and passion for the role.

Jolie, who stars as Callas in the film, has been tipped for a Best Actress award for her performance. The teaser clip released for the film shows Callas disagreeing with her staff about taking her medication during her final days, hinting at the emotional intensity of the role.

The cast of "Maria" is rounded out by Pierfrancesco Favino, Alba Rohrwacher, Haluk Bilginer, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Stephen Ashfield, and Valeria Golino.
