Angelina Jolie weeps publicly at the Toronto Film Festival as she discusses her mother's cancer, a moving moment captured on video.

Angelina Jolie graced the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) with her presence, attending the screening of her latest film, Couture. The movie, set against the backdrop of a Paris fashion event, tells the story of an American film director diagnosed with breast cancer and navigating a divorce.

Joining Jolie on stage at the Princess of Wales Theatre were her co-stars, Ella Rumpf and Anyier Anei, as well as the film's writer-director, Alice Winocour. During a Q&A session, Jolie spoke about the importance of asking about other aspects of a person's life when they are dealing with cancer.

This heartrending moment was one of the highlights of the #TIFF50, as Jolie, with a touch of emotion, offered words of hope for people dealing with cancer. She also expressed her condolences for the loss of a person's friend to cancer during the session.

Jolie's personal connection to the disease is undeniable. In 2013, she underwent a double mastectomy to prevent the risk of breast cancer, a decision she made after learning she carried a gene mutation that significantly increased her risk.

The loss of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, to cancer in 2007 at the age of 56, also deeply affected Jolie. Before her passing, Bertrand was a significant influence in Jolie's life, and Jolie expressed her love and remembrance for her mother during her speech at the Gotham Awards in 2024, where she honoured her late mother with heartfelt words.

Couture, which promises to be a powerful and moving film, is set to be released soon, offering audiences a glimpse into Jolie's artistic and emotional depth. In the meantime, Jolie's appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival serves as a reminder of her commitment to raising awareness about cancer and offering support to those affected by the disease.
