The JugendJazzOrchester NRW (JJO NRW), a renowned youth jazz orchestra based in North Rhine-Westphalia, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Founded in 1975, the orchestra has been pushing musical boundaries and creating interesting combinations for half a century.

The JJO NRW has a reputation for its openness and competence in crossing musical boundaries, often collaborating with artists and ensembles from various genres and classical orchestras. This approach has earned them the title of a model project for many state youth jazz orchestras in Germany.

As part of its anniversary celebrations, the JJO NRW has planned a series of concerts at prestigious venues such as the Philharmonies in Cologne, Essen, and Konzerthaus Dortmund. Ticket sales for the anniversary concert at the Arnsberg Sauerlandtheater have already started, and advance sales outlets include Reisebüro Meyer, Buchhandlung Sonja Vieth e.K., and Verkehrsverein Arnsberg e.V. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.reservix.de.

In addition to these concerts, the JJO NRW plans to collaborate nationwide with various music universities and youth jazz orchestras from other federal states as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations in 2025. These collaborations are expected to result in innovative and unique projects that will showcase the orchestra's talent and versatility.

The NRW selection ensemble of the JJO NRW, which is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, has been the recipient of the WDR Jazz Prize. Renowned soloists from the fields of jazz, pop, and chanson are regularly invited to perform with the ensemble, adding to the orchestra's prestige and reputation.

The Cultural Office of the City of Arnsberg has expressed great interest in the anniversary concert at the Arnsberg Sauerlandtheater, reflecting the orchestra's wide appeal and impact in the region. The JJO NRW has also undertaken 45 concert tours around the world as cultural ambassadors for NRW in jazz, further cementing their status as a leading youth jazz orchestra.

Over the years, the JJO NRW has released a total of 15 sound carrier productions, showcasing their versatility and creativity. The orchestra's innovative and unique projects have made them a beacon of excellence in the world of jazz music.
