Annual Fair in Kaltenkirchen receives special attention this year
Kaltenkirchen Fair Returns for Another Year, Marking a New Era
The picturesque city of Kaltenkirchen is gearing up for its annual fair, a significant event that has been a staple of the city and region for over 275 years. The fair, which dates back to 1743, will take place from Friday, September 5th, to Monday, September 8th, at the fairground located at Im Grunde 2b.
This year, the fair will be under the leadership of a new fairmaster, Lena Wolff. At just 26 years old, Wolff brings a fresh perspective to the event, having been intensively trained and prepared for her new role in recent years. She is known for her experience in event management and regional trade shows.
Werner Finnern, the outgoing fairmaster who has been involved with the fair since 1976 and has been a key figure in the event for over 50 years, will retire this year. His retirement will mark a poignant moment at the fair, as he passes the torch to the next generation.
The fair is expected to attract up to 40,000 visitors during its four-day run. To accommodate these crowds, additional parking facilities will be available. The campervan parking area opposite the HolstenTherme will be used, and parking is also available at the parking lot opposite the HolstenTherme for 3 euros. For those seeking free parking, options are available at XXXLutz & Dodenhof.
The fair will offer a mix of traditional attractions and new additions. New this year are the "Bee Flier" for young children and the interactive game "Crazy Farm". Visitors can also enjoy a Happy Hour on the opening day, with chips for rides costing half price, and a grand fireworks display at 10 pm.
The fair will be officially opened by Kaltenkirchen's mayor, Stefan Bohlen, on Friday at 3 pm. The southern entrance will be open during the fair, and the Norderstraße will be closed to through traffic from Friday, September 5th, at 8 am until Monday, September 8th, at 11:59 pm. The Norderstraße will only be accessible from the Barmstedter Straße during the fair.
A total of 74 showmen were selected to present their attractions at the fair this year, out of a total of 163 applicants. The Kaltenkirchen Fair continues to be a much-anticipated event, attracting visitors from all over.
