Annual Success for Twilight Cinema Continues
In the heart of Guernsey, the Twilight Cinema has become a cherished summer tradition, with this year's event drawing a crowd of over 2,000 people to Castle Cornet. The ten-day event, which featured a mix of classic and contemporary films, was described by Helen Glencross, Head of Heritage Services, as a resounding success.
Ten of the showings were completely sold out, with popular choices such as 'Gladiator', 'Top Gun', 'The Breakfast Club', and 'Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy' attracting full houses. Family-friendly options like 'A Minecraft Movie' and 'Encanto' also proved to be instant hits, selling out within days of going on sale.
The relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, complete with glorious sunsets, created an unforgettable experience for all attendees. The event showcased Castle Cornet at its best, offering a unique blend of history and entertainment.
Helen Glencross expressed her satisfaction with the turnout and the diversity of the audience, noting the presence of many families and young people at the castle during the event. She also extended her thanks to the various teams that contributed to the event's success, including the technical, booking, and planning teams at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, the States of Guernsey marketing team, and the visitor services team at Guernsey Museums.
Looking ahead, Twilight Cinema is set to return next August, with dates to be announced in spring 2026. Helen Glencross expressed her hope to welcome many families back before the end of the season to experience more of Castle Cornet. The 2025 event was considered the best yet, setting the bar high for next year.
Carolina Romahn, the person responsible for the Heritage Services at Twilight Cinema 2025, played a crucial role in making this year's event a success. The programme followed the same format as last year, with an early, family-friendly showing at 5pm, followed by a film for adults at 7pm. Favourites like 'Fantastic Mr Fox', 'Shrek', 'Madagascar', and 'School of Rock' also reached capacity, demonstrating the wide appeal of the event.
As the sun sets on this year's Twilight Cinema, excitement is already building for next year's event. With its unique blend of history, entertainment, and family-friendly fun, it's no wonder that Twilight Cinema has become a much-loved highlight in the Guernsey summer calendar.
