Anti-Drug Raids in Rhineland: Authorities Execute Searches and Detain Suspects Accused of Narcotics Trade
German Police Conduct Large-Scale Drug Trafficking Investigation
On Wednesday, June 18, a significant operation was carried out by the deployment forces of the Rhine-Kreis-Neuss police headquarters in several cities across North Rhine-Westphalia. The searches, conducted in Cologne, Bonn, Bergheim, Frechen, Mönchengladbach, and Dormagen, were part of an investigation into suspected drug trafficking on a large scale.
Four men, aged between 36 and 51, were arrested during the searches. However, no information about their age or nationality was provided. The specific details of the events leading to these arrests were not disclosed.
The seized evidence is currently being evaluated as part of the ongoing investigation. The suspects are believed to have communicated using encrypted messaging services such as ANOM and SkyECC to conceal their activities.
Meanwhile, investigators from the Essen police headquarters have also been actively involved in a separate investigation. On December 2022, they arrested several suspects and seized approximately 20 kilograms of cannabis and 160,000 euros in cash. The timeframe and details of these events in Essen were not specified, nor were any further details about the ongoing evaluation of the seized evidence given.
The investigation, which has been ongoing since May 2022, is targeting 14 suspects with German, Greek, Albanian, and Turkish citizenship. However, the suspects arrested in the June 18 operation were not mentioned as being part of this larger investigation, as it was not taking place in Essen.
The search results from the June 18 operation included a property worth approximately 400,000 euros, five cars, high-value watches, approximately 90,000 euros in cash, a significant amount of cocaine, and numerous mobile phones, tablets, computers, and storage media.
The arrested suspects will be presented to the investigating judge later today. No further details about the ongoing investigation were given. It is believed that the suspects are suspected of having dealt with at least 70 kilograms of cocaine between March 2021 and May 2025 and sold it for profit. However, the specific location of these events was not specified.
