Anticipated Alterations in the Power Grid Occurring Next Weekend
On the weekend of August 23-24, Magdeburg will be bustling with events, including the Lidl-Deutschland-Tour, the ADAC Cycling Tour, the Christopher Street Day (CSD) parade, and the Zoonight event at the Magdeburg Zoo. Here's a guide to navigating the city's public transport system during these exciting times.
Lidl-Deutschland-Tour and ADAC Cycling Tour (August 24)
On Sunday, August 24, major traffic restrictions will be in place in Magdeburg city center from 6:00 to 18:00. This includes the closure of large parts of the city center, affecting the Magdeburg Ring (between Wiener Straße and Osterweddinger Chaussee), Schleinufer, Jakobstraße, Strombrücke, Stadtparkstraße, and the Sternbrücke. A complete parking ban will be in effect along the entire route, and the Zielbereich at Schleinufer will be closed from the evening of August 23 until August 25 morning.
During these hours, MVB public transport lines will experience significant changes. Tram services around the Marktplatz will be unavailable from 9:00 to 15:00 due to the family festival connected to the Deutschlandtour. Tram line 4 will run via the North Bridge (Cracau to Hauptbahnhof/Willy-Brandt-Platz), and Tram line 5 will run between Diesdorf and Buckau/Wasserwerk. Tram line 2 will run in two separate sections: North (Alte Neustadt to Hauptbahnhof/Willy-Brandt-Platz) and South (Westerhüsen to Klinikum Olvenstedt).
Passengers are advised to inform themselves about their desired connection using the easyGo app or the website www.mvbnet.de.
CSD Parade (August 23)
On Saturday, August 23, the Christopher Street Day (CSD) parade will take place in Magdeburg city center, starting at 1 pm. There may be short-term restrictions and delays in tram and bus services during the parade.
Zoonight at Magdeburg Zoo (August 23)
In the evening of Saturday, August 23, the Magdeburg Zoo will host the Zoonight event. Passengers can use tram line 10, night-active line N8, and trains to the North depot for arrival and departure to the Zoo during Zoonight. Bus line 59 runs in an altered route every 20 minutes between Sudenburg and Hauptbahnhof/Willy-Brandt-Platz as a direct connection to the city center. Passengers are advised to check the timetables in the easyGo app or on www.mvbnet.de before starting their journey to the Zoo.
