Applying for the Indonesia Digital Nomad Visa: A Three-Step Guide

Indonesia, with its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and super-fast wifi, has become a popular destination for digital nomads. The Indonesian government has recognised this trend and launched the Remote Worker Visa (E33G) Program, officially known as the Indonesia digital nomad visa, in April 2024.

This visa is designed for remote workers who work for a company, clients, or own a business outside of Indonesia. To be eligible, applicants must have a valid passport with at least 18 months validity and three blank pages, earn a minimum annual income of $60,000 USD, have $2,000 USD in the bank, and present a lease or reservation of where they will stay in Indonesia.

The application process involves submitting various documents such as a copy of the passport, passport photos, employment contract, resume or CV, personal bank statements from the previous three months, bank statements to prove annual income, and the address of accommodations in Indonesia. The processing time for the application is approximately one week.

Once approved, you have 90 days to enter Indonesia. After arriving, you must apply for your temporary residence card, KITAS, online. There is a $165 USD (IDR 2,700,000) fee for the permit of stay for KITAS.

It's important to note that the Indonesia digital nomad visa does not entitle the holder to search for employment opportunities in that country. However, if you are a freelancer or business owner, consider applying for the B211a visa instead.

The Indonesian government agency responsible for approving dependent visas under the Remote Worker Visa program is the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights. More details about the requirements and the Dependent Visa for the Remote Worker Visa are still being fine-tuned and will be updated as they are released.

With coworking spaces on almost every corner, Indonesia offers a unique lifestyle almost free from stress and worry. The large remote worker community makes it easy to find a friend group. If you need help with the digital nomad visa application, consider the services of Nomads Embassy's hand-selected partners.

The Indonesia digital nomad visa is initially valid for one year and may be renewed up to five times, allowing remote workers to live in the country for a total of six years. So, if you're looking for a change of scenery and a new adventure, consider Indonesia as your next digital nomad destination.
