Applying for UAE Golden Visa: A 4-Step Guide
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced the UAE Golden Visa, a unique residency program that offers foreign nationals the opportunity to live and work in the country for five or ten years with a renewable residence permit.
The UAE Golden Visa, often referred to as the Dubai Golden Visa, stands out for its flexibility and accessibility. Unlike other visas for the country, it does not require a sponsor.
The program is managed by the UAE government, specifically through the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship in coordination with various emirate-level bodies such as the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and Dubai's immigration authorities.
Retirees can apply for the UAE Golden Visa if they invest at least 1 million AED in an approved investment and earn 15,000 AED per month in income. Pioneers of humanitarian work, outstanding athletes, scientists, entrepreneurs, and exceptional talents may also be eligible.
Real estate investors can apply if they currently own or purchase one or multiple properties with a value of at least 2 million AED. Those who hold an elevated or directorial role in a company can apply if they receive at least a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, hold their current position for at least five years, earn at least 50,000 AED annually, have a valid contract for work, and meet other criteria.
University students can apply if they attend a university rated A or B class by the Ministry of Education, have a GPA of at least 3.5 in an A class university or a GPA of at least 3.8 in a B class university, receive a letter of recommendation from the university, and the university is ranked in the top 100 globally. High school students can apply if they hold at least a 95% grade in public or private school and receive a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Education.
Inventors who have a patent that has added value to the UAE's economy can also apply for the UAE Golden Visa. Humanitarian pioneers, outstanding students, and exceptional talents will be granted a ten-year residence permit upon approval. Entrepreneurs can apply if they meet one of the following requirements: be founder or part owner of a UAE-based startup that generates at least 1 million AED in annual revenue, have sold a startup for at least 7 million AED, or receive a letter of acceptance from a UAE-based and accredited incubator.
Scientists eligible for the UAE Golden Visa can receive it if they have a recommendation letter from the Emirates Council of Scientists or have been awarded the Medal of Scientific Excellence by the Secretariat of the Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Excellence. Outstanding athletes who can obtain a letter of recommendation from the General Sports Authority or one of the councils associated with it may be eligible for the UAE Golden Visa.
After submitting your application, you'll receive an answer in just 30 days. The UAE Golden Visa also offers opportunities to obtain the visa without making an investment. Holders of the UAE Golden Visa will have access to discounts within the country, including on cars, health insurance premiums, bank fees, and more.
One of the benefits of the UAE Golden Visa is that it allows applicants to bring their spouses and children with them. The resident permit is eligible for renewal. The program also allows applicants to sponsor domestic helpers to bring with them to the country.
In summary, the UAE Golden Visa is a flexible and accessible residency program that offers various paths for foreign nationals to live and work in the UAE. Whether you're a retiree, a real estate investor, an entrepreneur, a student, an athlete, a scientist, or a humanitarian pioneer, the UAE Golden Visa may be the perfect opportunity for you.
