Approved: New Vehicles for Schönbuchbahn Railway System
Schoenbuchbahn's New Electric Trains Gradually Integrated into Service
After several delays and twists in the approval process, the Schoenbuchbahn is finally set to welcome its new electric trains, manufactured by DUEWAG and associated with the Württembergische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (WEG) service on the route between Böblingen and Dettenhausen.
The Nexio vehicle type, manufactured by Spanish company CAT, has received its operating license from the Federal Railway Authority, marking a significant milestone in the integration of these modern trains. The manufacturer and the licensing authority found a solution to finally approve the Nexio vehicle type.
County Administrator Roland Bernhard expressed relief at this development, commenting on the approval. The inauguration party for the new electric trains, previously postponed twice, will be held, although a date has not yet been set.
Train drivers will be trained before the new electric vehicles are put into regular operation. The old diesel trains will be successively replaced by the new electric vehicles, marking a significant shift towards more environmentally friendly transportation.
The Schoenbuchbahn, which connects Boeblingen and Dettenhausen, has been the subject of recent news, with the story covered in the Staatsanzeiger BW. The delayed but much-anticipated integration of the new electric trains into the Schoenbuchbahn service is expected to begin gradually.
The Schoenbuchbahn's new electric trains, initially expected in 2021, will now be a reality, bringing a more sustainable and modern transportation option to the residents of Böblingen and Dettenhausen.
