Armed Assault - Suspects Detained by Police Following Stabbing Incident

In a shocking incident that unfolded around 8:45 AM on Thursday, a stateless man was taken into police custody for allegedly stabbing a traveler at Berlin's main train station.

The victim, a 42-year-old German man, sustained stab wounds to his upper body and legs. Thankfully, he was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for surgery and is not in danger of dying.

The suspect, a 47-year-old stateless man, was found to have illegal residence documents. An off-duty federal police officer witnessed the incident and arrested the suspect at gunpoint.

The public prosecutor conducting investigations against the suspect for alleged dangerous bodily injury and illegal residence status is the Public Prosecutor's Office of Coburg. The police carried out the investigations in coordination with the Staatsanwaltschaft Coburg. Alerted officers from the Berlin police and federal police assisted in the arrest.

A drug test on the suspect came back positive for amphetamines and cocaine. On Friday, a judge ordered the suspect to be held in custody.
