Armed robber commits theft of ice cream and beef, violently attacks a man with a hatchet inside a Safeway store in Northwest Washington D.C.
In a shocking incident that took place on Friday evening, a suspect was arrested for assault with a hatchet inside a Safeway store in the Takoma neighborhood, Northwest Washington.
The incident occurred at around 9:50 p.m. at the Safeway located at 6500 Piney Branch Road. According to reports, the suspect, identified as Lamont Anthony Jackson, engaged in a physical altercation with a man inside the store. During the altercation, Jackson allegedly attacked the man with a hatchet.
The victim sustained injuries that required hospital care, but the current status of both the suspect and the victim remains unclear.
The police were involved in the arrest of the suspect. Jackson was arrested for assault with a hatchet and also for shoplifting. It is reported that he stuffed his backpack with several items, including strawberry ice cream, vanilla ice cream, lemon bread, Bumble Bee Snacks, brisket beef, eye of round beef, round roast beef, sandwich rolls, and milk.
The details of the shoplifting incident were not specified in the report. The police have not released any further information regarding the suspect's current status or the ongoing investigation.
