Arrest made at Hamburg Airport by federal police: Violation of drug law leads to fines exceeding 2000 euros

A 24-year-old German citizen, wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bremen since mid-August 2025 for illegal drug trafficking and mid-June 2025 for threats, was arrested at Hamburg Airport on Tuesday.

The man was attempting to fly from Hamburg to Barcelona when officers from the Federal Police Inspectorate Hamburg Airport checked him around 06:00. The search revealed that the traveler was wanted with two arrest warrants.

According to the information transmitted by the Federal Police Inspectorate Hamburg Airport via news aktuell, the man was wanted for a fine of 70 daily rates of 15 euros each, or alternatively 70 days of imprisonment for illegal drug trafficking. He was also wanted for a similar fine or imprisonment for threats.

The total fine the man paid was 2,100 euros, which covered both charges. After paying the fine, the man was released from the police measure.

The name of the individual who was stopped by the Federal Police at Hamburg Airport was not disclosed in the available sources. Marcus Henschel, contact person for the Federal Police Inspectorate Hamburg Airport, was not available for further comment.

The man was able to continue his flight to Barcelona following his release. It is unclear if any further legal action will be taken against him. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Bremen has been searching for the man since the respective charges were filed.
