Arrest made by Polish authorities on individuals believed to be shoplifters
In a series of arrests on Wednesday, 23 April, the Rhein-Erft Circle Police apprehended three suspects for alleged shoplifting incidents in the towns of Frechen and Wesseling.
The first incident occurred in Frechen, where a 41-year-old suspect was caught outside a discount store by alerted police, while his accomplice was detained inside the store by an employee. The suspect was found to have stolen a package of Easter eggs.
Meanwhile, the 42-year-old suspect was detained by an employee after he stole a package of Easter eggs and consumed them outside the store. He allegedly placed four bottles of alcoholic beverages in a backpack and paid for other items at the cash register but left the bottles behind.
In a separate incident in Wesseling, a 19-year-old suspect was arrested for shoplifting a bottle of spirits at a store on Flach-Fengler-Straße. He was found to have a carpet knife and white powder on him, which police secured and took him into custody. Initial analysis suggests the white powder could be heroin.
The three suspects, aged 41, 42, and 19, were provisionally arrested by the police. Investigators have indications that the 19-year-old may have previously stolen goods from another retail store. It is important to note that the earlier suspects arrested in Frechen and Wesseling are not directly connected to the 19-year-old suspect in Wesseling.
Neither of the suspects had a fixed residence in Germany at the time of their arrest. Both cases of shoplifting are ongoing investigations.

Separately, it was announced that the suspect in the Rust child abuse case was arrested by the Polizeipräsidium Offenburg in cooperation with the Landeskriminalamt Baden-Württemberg, the Bundeskriminalamt, Romanian security authorities, and the Freiburg public prosecutor's office. The suspect related to the Long Island killings (Craigslist Ripper case) was arrested in Manhattan by New York police authorities.
