Arrest of Offenders Who Fled on Motorway: Individuals in Trouble with the Law Caught Following Escape on Highway

Two German men, aged 23 and 29, found themselves facing criminal charges following a high-speed chase on the A11 highway. The incident began when the men were stopped for a routine check at the temporarily reinstated border controls near Pomellen.

According to reports, the state police were called to the scene, and the case was subsequently handed over to them. The men's car, registered in Neubrandenburg, was found to have license plates that were currently wanted by the Neubrandenburg police, as they had been reported stolen on 02.09.2025.

The initial findings suggest that the driver may have been under the influence of drugs. As the police signalled for the car to stop, the driver ignored the signals and continued to drive at high speed towards Berlin. A federal police patrol managed to catch up with the car, but the chase continued until the car crashed at the Werbellin interchange.

Fortunately, both occupants were temporarily arrested, and there were no personal injuries reported. The Directorate of the Federal Police, which operates in Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the North and Baltic Seas, was involved in the apprehension of the suspects.

The Directorate has operational units in Flensburg, Kiel, Rostock, Stralsund, Pasewalk, and a Mobile Control and Surveillance Unit. It also has a unit for Combating Crime in Rostock and a maritime component, "Federal Police Sea," to monitor the sea border in the North and Baltic Seas.

The leadership of the Federal Police Inspection Pasewalk, including the joint German-Polish border crossing at Pomellen, is held by the Bundespolizeiinspektion Pasewalk with the Gemeinsame deutsch-polnische Dienststelle Pomellen (Joint German-Polish Service Pomellen).
