Man Faces Criminal Charges for Repeated Social Media Violations in Tomsk

In a joint operation between Center E operatives and SOBR Rosgvardiya officers, a 27-year-old man was detained in Tomsk, Russia, for displaying symbols of a banned extremist organization on social media. The Tomsk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia is managing the case.

The young man's social media activities were considered a violation of extremist laws in Russia. Despite an administrative punishment, he did not remove all prohibited images from his page. The prohibited images were accessible to an unlimited number of people on his social media page.

Upon being charged, the man fully admitted his guilt. The case has been opened against him under Part 1 of Article 282.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Repeated public display of extremist organization symbols).

A measure of restraint in the form of a written undertaking not to leave and to behave properly was chosen for the suspect. No new information about prior administrative punishments or the nature of the prohibited images was provided in this paragraph.

During a search at the suspect's place of residence, items of significance to the case were seized. The person currently under investigation in Tomsk for repeated public display of symbols of a banned extremist organization has not been publicly named.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time the young man has been held administratively responsible for similar actions. He was previously subject to administrative punishment in August of this year.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to Russia's extremist laws on social media platforms. The man now faces criminal, not administrative, penalties for his actions.
