Officer in Custody: Detainee Relocated to Penitentiary - Arrested suspect transferred to prison after fatally shooting a police officer
Last Saturday, a memorial service was held in the hometown of the late Police Officer Simon Bohr, who was fatally shot two weeks ago in the Saarland town of Völklingen. Officer Bohr was laid to rest in Saarlouis.
The tragic incident occurred during an attempt to apprehend an 18-year-old suspect, who wrested a service weapon away and shot Officer Bohr six times. The suspect, who is now in custody, has been transferred from the hospital to a prison and is no longer in critical condition.
The suspect is facing serious charges, including murder, suspected severe robbery, and two attempted murders. However, the name of the investigating judge ("Ermittlungsrichter") in the case remains undisclosed.
A memorial event for Officer Bohr will take place in Saarbrücken on Friday at 2:00 PM. The event, organised by the Saarland state government, will be attended by several political figures, including Minister President Anke Rehlinger, Saarland Interior Minister Reinhold Jost, and Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt.
A separate memorial event for Officer Bohr is scheduled to take place in Völklingen, where the crime occurred at a gas station. The exact date and time of this event have not been announced yet.
The prosecution office in Saarbrücken has confirmed the transfer of the suspect from the hospital to a prison. The suspect's current condition is not known, but it is understood that they are responsive and can continue to receive medical treatment in prison.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Officer Bohr during this difficult time. The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
