Arrests and Investigations Detailed in Recent Police Reports from August 19, 2025

In the past few days, the Saale Police Department and the Saalekreis police station have been busy dealing with a series of incidents that have taken place in and around the area.

On Monday evening, a single-vehicle bicycle accident occurred in the Riveufer area at 8:00 AM. The cyclist, whose identity remains unknown, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and suffered serious injuries. The cyclist was taken to a city hospital for further treatment.

Later that same day, at 7:00 AM, a collision between two cars occurred on the Merseburger Straße at the level of a pedestrian crossing. No persons were injured, but there was property damage and airbags were deployed on one vehicle.

In a more concerning incident, a 14-year-old was involved in a dangerous bodily harm incident in the area of the Merseburger Straße at 7:00 AM. The teenager collided with an unknown person on the sidewalk and suffered a small wound in his hip area. The 14-year-old was taken to a city hospital for treatment.

The Saale Police Department has initiated investigations into the cause of both the bicycle accident and the dangerous bodily harm incident.

On the same day, an unknown suspect followed the 14-year-old to a nearby gas station but then fled in an unknown direction. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mansfeld-Südharz police station under the phone number 03475/670-293 or any other police station.

In a separate incident, a crashed motor vehicle was found in the Gleisbett area of the Merseburger Straße at 1:00 AM. The driver had a blood alcohol level of 2.33 promille and was found to be unfit to drive. The driver's license was confiscated, and the vehicle was towed.

The Central Traffic and Highway Patrol was called in to investigate the accident. No one was injured in the accident.

The Saale Police Department has also initiated an investigation into a fire that occurred on the afternoon of August 18, 2025, on the federal road 91. Sections between Leuna-Werke and the village of Bäumchen had to be cordoned off. The fire department cleaned the road on site, and current findings suggest that the liquid used was for fertilizer on agricultural land. Investigations into the cause and the person responsible for the contamination have been initiated.

The Saalekreis police station has registered an increase in thefts since July of this year. In a recent incident, unknown perpetrators forced their way into a residential building in Hettstedt and searched the rooms. Using the found vehicle key, they stole the parked VW Transporter with the large black inscription "Holzwerk" of the victim. The perpetrators responsible for the theft are currently unknown, and police investigations are ongoing with no suspects identified so far.

In another incident, an electric micro-vehicle was controlled in Domstraße that had no official license plate and was not insured. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the driver.

Lastly, a trash can fire occurred in Ludwig-Wucherer-Straße, Halle (Saale) at 5:30 AM. The fire was extinguished by the city's professional fire department. Another trash can was affected but remains functional. The perpetrator(s) use a similar method, targeting seniors in grocery stores within the city limits of Merseburg. The Saale Police Department has initiated further investigations against the driver.

The Saalekreis police station advises not to leave personal valuables unattended or to carry them on your person. Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to contact the relevant authorities.
