Tesla has announced the return of the seven-seat Model Y and the introduction of a new Performance trim, with both variants expected to hit the market later this year.

The seven-seat Model Y will offer ample space for children or small adults in the third row, making it an attractive option for families. Tesla has not yet revealed specific pricing details for the seven-seat variant, but it is expected to retain the C$4,000/US$3,000 premium over the standard six-seat model.

In addition to the seven-seat Model Y, Tesla is also set to unveil the highly anticipated Model Y Performance. This trim is expected to be part of the Launch Series, which could potentially increase its price. The exact pricing for the Performance trim has not been announced yet.

The new Model Y Performance is expected to boast a number of upgrades, including a more powerful rear motor, increased torque, and a wider tire setup for improved grip. Tesla is also planning to refine the handling of the Performance model, and it may feature upgraded brake pads for enhanced stopping power.

Reports suggest that the new Model Y Performance could see its 0-100 km/h time reduced to around 3.4 seconds, making it a formidable contender in the electric vehicle market. The Performance trim may also include track mode, a feature seen in previous Performance models.

Tesla has not stated if the seven-seat option will be available at the same time as the Performance trim. The company has also not provided an exact launch date for either variant of the new Model Y. However, it is expected that the new Model Y Performance will debut between September and October, with deliveries anticipated from October to November 2025.

The seven-seat Model Y is expected to be available by the end of 2025, but specific pricing details for the seven-seater have not been disclosed yet. The pricing and availability of both variants are subject to change.

In the UK, the new Model Y Performance is expected to be priced around £61,990 (~€62,970 in Germany). With its impressive performance upgrades and the addition of a seven-seat option, the new Model Y is set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.
