Arsenal could clinch Premier League triumph under management of Eze, as per Merson, following agreed £67.5m deal

In a significant move for Arsenal, the North London club have agreed a £67.5m deal to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. The deal, which includes a guaranteed £60m upfront payment and £7.5m in add-ons, is expected to be finalised imminently, according to reports.

The signing of Eze, a versatile midfielder who has excelled at Crystal Palace, is seen as a game-changer for Arsenal. The 26-year-old had initially been close to joining rivals Tottenham, but Arsenal have since hijacked the move.

Eze, who scored the winner in Crystal Palace's FA Cup triumph in the 2024-25 season, has made a total of 169 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions, scoring 40 goals and providing 29 assists. In the 2024-25 campaign, he registered an impressive 26 goal involvements (14 goals, 12 assists), making him a key player for Crystal Palace.

The deal is a brilliant signing for Arsenal, according to former Arsenal forward Paul Merson. Merson believes that Eze has the ability to make something happen in tight, tight games and can help Arsenal break down teams that play a low block. However, he suggests that Eze might not be the ideal solution for Arsenal away from home against top teams.

Merson considers Eze a perfect fit for Arsenal, stating that he can help the Gunners win the Premier League title this season. He also suggests that Eze should be given freedom to play at home against lesser teams, as he believes Eze can help Arsenal break down teams that park the bus.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who negotiated the signing of Eze, is excited about the prospect of working with the midfielder. Eze is expected to feature in Crystal Palace's Conference League play-off first leg against Fredrikstad on Thursday, before joining up with his new teammates.

With Eze's goal contributions tally more than any player within Arsenal's ranks, with Bukayo Saka (25) the closest to his total, the midfielder will undoubtedly add a new dimension to the Arsenal attack. The Gunners faithful will be eagerly anticipating Eze's debut, as the club looks to challenge for honours this season.
