In the quaint town of Büderich, the Old Keeper's House is set to host an extraordinary exhibition titled "Quiet Encounters", a captivating collection of works from artists Corina Gertz and Kris Scholz. The event, taking place from September 5th to October 3rd, promises a unique exploration of identity, history, and art.

Corina Gertz, renowned for her sensitive portraits, presents her long-term project "The Averted Portrait". This series focuses on women in traditional clothing, always shown from behind against a monochromatic black background. Gertz's work offers a collective identity without revealing the individuality of the wearers, inviting viewers to look, think, and rediscover.

On the other hand, Kris Scholz's exhibition features large-scale floral works, meticulously captured with a photographic eye. His artificially merged nature and art create a nearly sculptural quality, with the flowers in his images glowing in yellow, pink, or red, creating an aesthetic duel. Scholz's signature is particularly evident in his rose images against monochromatic backgrounds, where the artificial coloration intensifies to the point of pain.

Many of the garments on display are heirlooms rich in history, tradition, and familial significance. They embody knowledge passed down through generations and reflect social, aesthetic, and political narratives. The clothing, in this context, emerges as a carrier of history, identity, and belonging.

The artists themselves will be present at the event "MeerbuschKunst": "Quiet Encounters" on September 4th. They will provide insights into their artistic processes, offering visitors a rare opportunity to engage with the creators behind these thought-provoking works. The vernissage for the exhibition will take place on September 4th at 6:30 PM.

In addition to the main exhibition, a fairy tale reading with Angelika Schreurs will take place on September 11th at 7 PM. An artist talk by the Meerbuscher Cultural Circle will also be held on October 29th at 7 PM at the Old Keeper's House.

Visitors can explore "Quiet Encounters" on Thursdays through Sundays from 4 to 7 PM. This exhibition is a silent homage to cultural roots and textile memory, offering a captivating encounter with art and identity that should not be missed.
