"Artistic showdown 'Guitar Kaleidoscope' takes place in Kamchatka for budding musicians"
The city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is currently abuzz with the vibrant sounds of classical guitar, as the 6th Open City Guitar Competition "Guitar Kaleidoscope" unfolds. This significant event in the city's cultural life is not only a showcase of young talent but also a platform for the exchange of musical experiences and knowledge.
Organised by the PCGO News Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Culture Society, the competition is designed to encourage the growth and development of young classical guitarists. The event received support from the Department of Culture, Sports, and Youth Policy of the administration of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City District, ensuring its success.
The competition is a diverse spectacle, with over 60 young guitarists participating from various districts, including Vilyuchinsk, Elizovo, Bystrinsky districts, and Ust-Kamchatsky District. The participants' performances feature a diverse range of programs, including classical pieces and modern compositions.
A unique highlight of this year's competition is the inclusion of a conference titled "Classical Guitar: Modern Performance and Teaching", organised by Music School No. 6 named after Georgy Sviridov. This conference, focused on modern approaches to classical guitar performance and teaching, added an educational dimension to the competition.
The conference was accompanied by a masterclass conducted by Maxim Kisilenko, an international and national competition laureate and a guitar teacher at Kamchatka College of Arts. Kisilenko, a notable figure in classical guitar performance and teaching, provided an opportunity for participants to learn from an experienced professional.
The masterclass was not just an additional event within the broader competition program but a significant part of its educational aspects. The participants were not only showcasing their skills in solo and ensemble performances but also learning from a master of the craft.
The event is aimed at discovering and supporting talented performers, promoting classical guitar, and facilitating experience exchange between teachers and students. The organisers, the Kamchatka Regional Philharmonic, have once again succeeded in creating a memorable cultural event that enriches the city's cultural life.
