Assessing Tinubu's Lack of Northern Support is a Perilous Miscalculation – Kano Representative, Jibrin

In a recent appearance on Channels Television, federal lawmaker Abdulmumin Jibrin urged the North to confront the truth and cease undermining its own representatives. The focus of his remarks was President Bola Tinubu, a member of the North, who has faced suggestions of being politically "short-changed."

However, Jibrin dismisses these claims, asserting that the North has not been short-changed in terms of political power. In fact, he argues that the North has held power for a significant period, with the northern region of the Republic having held the reins for 39.5 years.

Jibrin further stated that President Tinubu still commands a strong following in the North. He warned against assuming that Tinubu has no support in the region, implying that there may be supporters who are not vocal about their allegiance.

Despite claims of insecurity, Jibrin also defended Tinubu, stating that he is not responsible for the current state of security in the country. He argued that while there might be people who want Tinubu out of power, there are others who still stand firmly behind him.

Jibrin concluded by predicting that as events unfold, people will come forward to oppose and support Tinubu. He emphasised that Tinubu is not an orphan in the North, indicating that he has a solid base of support in the region.

In the northern region, some political leaders and groups openly support President Tinubu. The exact extent of his support remains to be seen, but Jibrin's statements suggest that Tinubu's influence in the North may be stronger than some might assume.
