Astronomical Events: Southwest Guides for the Upcoming Lunar Eclipse
Get ready for a celestial spectacle! On September 7, 2025, a total lunar eclipse is set to grace our skies, and numerous observatories and organisations across Germany are inviting the public to join in the awe-inspiring event.
At the Aalen Observatory, you can witness the lunar eclipse from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Admission to both the Aalen and Stuttgart Observatories is free, making this a cost-effective way to marvel at the cosmos.
The Stuttgart Observatory will also offer a unique experience with a Pink Floyd-themed event. From 6:00 PM, the album "The Dark Side of the Moon" will be played in its entirety, accompanied by a 360-degree projection, star projector, and laser show. Tickets for this event can be pre-ordered online for €9.00.
The Zollern-Alb Observatory in Rosenfeld will provide equipment for observation from 7:45 PM, but registration is required by Friday noon. If the weather does not permit observation, a paid alternative program of presentations will be offered instead.
In Freiburg, the Breisgau Stargazers invite you to look through their telescopes during the lunar eclipse. Dressing warmly for cool temperatures on the mountain is recommended.
For those in Karlsruhe, the Astronomical Association Karlsruhe (AVKa) plans to open the Karlsruhe Observatory at 7:00 PM, provided the weather is suitable for observations.
If you're near Konstanz, the Bodensee Planetarium in Kreuzlingen will host a public evening at the observatory from 7:00 PM.
Numerous other organisations, such as the Volkssternwarte München, Sternwarte Hannover, and Sternenfreunde Riesa, will also offer free observation of the lunar eclipse on September 7, 2025, provided the weather permits.
Don't miss this opportunity to witness the total lunar eclipse and join the community of stargazers across Germany!
